The past four weeks, we have been sharing a series called "Why Soy Wax? Top 5 Reasons". Last week, we gave a hint as to what Reason #1 was, did you guess correctly?
Reason #1 Renewable
What does it mean to be renewable? The Dictionary.com definition of renewable is “Relating to a natural resource, such as solar energy, water, or wood, that is never used up or that can be replaced by new growth.” It would be reasonable to say that a renewable resource is one that can be replaced at a rate comparable or faster to the rate that it is consumed.
As mentioned in previous posts, soy wax is made from the oil of the soy bean plant. With global reserves of oil shrinking and paraffin prices increasing, the only limit to the soy supply is how much we choose to grow. It is very likely that soy wax consumed currently was in the ground less than a year ago. Chances are that same field is growing more soy in the future.
Thank you for joining us in this series. We hope that we have helped you understand why we chose to use soy wax in our home fragrances.
